Willie Eddie Warhop

d. Jun 9, 2026

Willie Eddie Warhop, a cherished father, devoted community member, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at Memorial Heights Nursing Home. Born on December 8, 1951, in Idabel, Oklahoma, Willie entered this world to his loving mother, Lillie Mae Thompson Warhop, and father, Eddie Lawrence. His life was marked by a steadfast commitment to family, community, and the outdoors.

Willie attended Booker T. Washington School in Idabel, where he developed a love for football and forged lifelong friendships. Known as a true people’s person, Willie’s warmth and dedication were felt deeply throughout his community. He was not only a friend indeed but also someone who loved each and every one of his children and grandchildren profoundly.

His career was characterized by his passion for the outdoors, which found a perfect home when he became employed by J.E. Beavers as ranch help. Over many years, he became an integral part of the J.E. Beavers Ranch family. Willie found joy in hunting, fishing, playing dominoes, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family and friends.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae Warhop and Eddie Lawrence; his children Marcus Duane Warhop, Kelly Warhop, and Sean Scales; his brothers Floater Warhop, Jr., Ervin Warhop, Andrew Brown, and Robert Brown; his sisters Jean Williams and Pat Warhop; and a beloved nephew, Patrick (Booty) Warhop. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

He is survived by his loving children Tenesha Warhop and Willie Warhop Jr., both of Idabel, Oklahoma; Johnnie Mae Mack of Idabel, Oklahoma; and Ishanta (Lyndell) Shoals of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Willie also leaves behind three brothers: David Warhop (Jean) of Idabel, Oklahoma; Charles Warhop of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Donald Warhop of California. He is further survived by three sisters: Mamie Cooper, Barbara (James) Crafty of Clarksville, Texas; and Bernice Warhop of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Alongside them are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, extended family members, and a special friend, Mr. Patrick Cobbs, all of whom cherish his memory and the profound impact he had on their lives.

Willie’s legacy is deeply rooted in his love for family, his generosity of spirit, and his enduring commitment to his community. The words of Romans 8:38-39 resonate deeply as we remember him: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else, in all creations, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

A memorial service to honor Willie Eddie Warhop’s remarkable life will be held on June 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Nunley's Funeral Home, located at 3 NW Bois D Arc Ave, Idabel, Oklahoma.

In remembering Willie, we celebrate a man whose heart and hands enriched the lives of so many, and whose spirit will remain a guiding light for his family and community.
