Willie Earl "Jimbo" Braxton was born Dec 13th, 1927 in Millerton, OK. to Zora Cherry Braxton. His father passed away at an early age..
Willie and his mother moved to Idabel when he was very young. He later entered into the U. S Army and was on active duty for several years. Jimbo returned to Idabel and finished High School at Booker T. Washington, (class of 1951).
He later left Idabel with his wife Genora Scott Braxton and moved to Dallas Texas. Willie worked 20 years at Elfant Neckwear Company in Dallas Texas. He retired from there and then went to work for an Electronic Company setting up bank computers for a number of years. After finally retiring from those jobs, he moved back to the home place in Idabel where his mom lived. Willie went to work for himself opening up a Barbecue business "The Ribs" on N. W. 1st St. for many years. When his health began to fail, he moved back to Dallas, TX. to live with his oldest son Kenneth.
Willie is preceded in death by his mom; Zora Cherry Braxton; two sons Al Reynolds of Oklahoma City, and Lynn Braxton of Idabel, Ok., also daughter- in- law Rose Braxton; and one grandson Andrew Buchanan.
He leaves to mourn his death seven children; two sons; Kenneth and wife Johnnie Braxton of Dallas TX., and Billy Ray and wife Teresa Braxton of Garland, TX., five daughters; Gwen and husband Earner Johnson of Cedar Hill, TX., Barbara Ann Olagunji and Audrey Braxton, of Dallas TX., Elma Lee and husband R. J. Pittman of Cedar Hill, TX., Rashana Crystal Braxton of Idabel, OK.; one aunt, Loretta Cherry of Arlington, TX., sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, several nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services are set for 1pm Friday July 17, 2015 at Westside First Baptist Church with Rev. R. D. Clayton officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
