Wanda L. Harris was born on July 31, 1952 to Velma Butler and Joe Smith in Idabel, Oklahoma. She departed this life and entered in to her heavenly home on Friday, February 23 rd at Paris Regional Medical Center in Texas.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She joined First Baptist Church-Westside. Later, she became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in rural Idabel and was a faithful member.
Wanda attended Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel and was proud to be a member of the New Generation Sophomore Class of 1968. She was the corresponding secretary for the club, and she worked tirelessly to raise and secure funds for scholarships given by the club. She also attended and graduated from Idabel Gray High School in 1970.
She united in marriage to Fred Harris and they remained married for 45 years. She was kind, beautiful, and loving person. Everyone who knew her knew of her undeniable love for her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and only sister, Brenda Reynolds.
Wanda leaves to celebrate her homegoing: Son, Frederic Harris of Idabel. Stepson, Terry Johnson of Denver, Colorado. Daughters, Crystal Callender of DeSota, Texas; Kimberle James of Del City, Oklahoma; and Gayla Harris-Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Stepdaughter, Sha'tia Vann of Idabel.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her loving memory.
The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Westside in Idabel. Elder Curtis Harris will officiate.
Interment will follow in Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
