Vernon Jones

Vernon Jones 69 went to sleep in death September 7, 2025, at Christus St. Michaels Health Systems in Texarkana TX. He was born on December 12, 1955, in Dekalb, TX., to Johnnie Jones Sr. (Coot) and Opal Faye Hutchison (Toni B. Jones).

Vernon was a hard worker; he worked in the trailer business, as a roofer, and as a food processor for different companies. He worked for over 25 years for Tyson Foods on the dark meat debone line until he received his cancer diagnoses and could no longer work.

He loved to eat good food, loved to play dominoes, was a man of few words, and a good cook when you talked him into doing so.

Vernon believed in the resurrection hope and looked forward to that fulfillment like the patriarch Job.

He never married or had children.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Opal Faye Jones, Brother Willie Authur Jones, sister Barbara Ann Jones-Moore, Thelma Giddens.

He is survived by his brothers Bennie L. Jones and wife Gloria of Dekalb TX., Stanley Jones and wife Lourann Jones of Del City, OK., Johnnie Jones Jr., of Dekalb, TX., Steve and Renee Jones of Longview TX., Sisters Felishia Jones of New Boston, TX., Alberta and Jimmy Ellis of Idabel, OK., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Reed V Building, 101 FM Road 992, DeKalb.  TX

Inurnment service will take place later.
