Troy Lee Henderson

Mr. Troy L. Henderson was born June 12, 1925 in Harris, Oklahoma to Louis and Gracie Henderson. He went to sleep in death Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Hill Nursing Home in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Troy joined the United States Army in October of 1944 and served for two years. During that time he received two Bronze Stars, several service ribbons and two Overseas Service bars. He served as a truck driver and rifle Sharpshooter. Upon being honorably discharged, he moved to Los Angeles, California.
In 1949, he married Verna Mae Williams and to this union three children were born.
He started his career as a truck driver for the postal service in 1950. He later began working for M & B Paper Co. as a supervisor and truck driver until he retired. In 1982, he moved back home to Idabel.
Preceding Troy in death are: his wife, Verna Mae Henderson; son, Troy Lee Henderson, Jr.; sister, Minneola Thompson; and Charles and Curtis Hicks.
Troy leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Angel Ward of Los Angeles, California; son, Standford Lee Henderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Esterlene Butler of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren Lisa, Angel, Vennetta, and Angela; four great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services are set for 1 P M Friday 01/17/2014 at the Funeral Home with Brother Herbert Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
