Paxton Obit
Tommy Lee Paxton was born on March 8, 1951 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Ophelia and Henry Paxton. He departed this life Saturday, March 5, 2011 at DeQueen Medical Center in DeQueen Arkansas.
Tommy spent most of his life in Idabel where he attended Idabel Public Schools.
God gifted Tommy with the ability of craftsmanship in which he used in various employment settings. He has always been known as being able to fix anything broken. He was employed with Mixon Brothers Post Plant for a number of years. Later, Tommy ventured in entrepreneurship by opening TP's Club and later TP's Mechanic Shop.
He accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Tommy married Jessie Ricks on September 7, 1977, and they raised two sons, Richard and Kenneth Ricks.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ophelia and Henry Paxton, 5 brothers; Robert Paxton, Tom Paxton, John L. Hawkins Jr., James E. Bedford, and Peter C. Hawkins; 2 sisters; Bobbie McIntosh and Katherine Bedford.
Tommy leaves to mourn 2 sons; Richard and Kenneth Ricks, and their mother Jessie Paxton of Idabel; 10 sisters; Lena Miller, Vennie Taylor, Clara Thornton (all of Arizona), Addie Colter of Denver, CO, Lois Paxton, Dorothy Perkins of California, Henretta (Donell) Wright of Idabel, Rosie Davis of Kansas City, Mo., Billie Bedford of Oklahoma City, Vera Hawkins of Idabel, and one brother, Vincent (Della) Paxton of Idabel. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are set for 11 AM Saturday March 12, 2011 at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev Allen W. Gulley officiating.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
