Sheldon Herrod was born in Pasadena, California on July 19, 1977, to Clarence and Lea Herrod. His early years were spent in Pasadena until his family moved to Duarte, California. There he united with the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Curtis Bennett. Sheldon's transition from this life took place at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas on December 8, 2018.
During his senior year in high school, he and his family relocated to Idabel, Oklahoma where he joined Springhill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A. W. Gulley. It was in Idabel where Sheldon met and married Crystal Cooper and to this union, two children were born. During his life, he worked many jobs in Los Angeles County California and McCurtain County, Oklahoma. Most recently, he was employed with Hibbit's in Idabel.
He was preceded in death by his father; Clarence Herrod and youngest brother; Michael Herrod.
Sheldon is loved and his memories will forever be cherished by all, especially his mother: Lea Herrod of Idabel. Daughter: Aleah Herrod of Idabel. Sons: Sheldon Herrod Jr, Jasiah Herrod, Kaylem Herrod, and Noah Herrod all of Idabel, and a son who requested not to be named. Sisters: Jessica (Vincent) Hendricks of Dallas, Texas; Stella Amy, Denise Robinson, Caroline Carter, all of Houston, Texas; Vera (Walter) O'Neal of Utah; Regina Herrod of Newton, Kansas, and Charlotte Potter of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is also survived by two special sisters: Chayda Hammond of Dallas, Texas and Jessica Alberty of Idabel, Oklahoma. Brothers: Kelvin Herrod of Rialto, California; Kenneth Herrod and Clarence Herrod of Newton, Kansas. Aunt: Patricia Herrod of San Bernardino, California . Five grandchildren. Wife: Crystal "Cooper" Herrod of Dallas, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and a host of many, many friends.
The funeral service will be on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 1:00 PM at the By-Pass Church of Christ in Idabel with Pastor Allen W. Gulley, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Beaver Dam Cemetery; DeKalb, Texas.
