Royce Bible

September 5, 1958 — April 23, 2024

By the grace of God, Royce Lynn Bible, the youngest of three boys, was born to Willie and Clara Bible on September 5, 1958, in Idabel, Oklahoma.  He departed this life on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Affectionately known as "Doobie", he graduated from Idabel Gray High School where he was Vice-president of the Senior Class of 1976.  He was also a member of the track and football teams.  Royce served as a youth counselor with Little Dixie where his love for young people was on full display. After graduation, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  Upon returning to Idabel, Doobie worked as a D.J. at the radio station KBEL and later opened his own business "The Sportsman's Club".

Royce lived most of his life in Idabel but also resided in Denver, Colorado, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Houston, TX.

Doobie enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles and could "hold his own" on the strip. His love of music came at an early age and he developed a keen and unrelenting interest in the guitar.  Still in high school, he was instrumental in the formation of the band "Purple Dust" where he was the lead guitarist.  He loved traveling and performing, as no venue was too small or too large for him.  He would play rock-n-roll, R&B, country, and gospel, but his specialty was the blues.  Royce won talent competitions in Oklahoma City, San Antonio, TX, and Houston, TX.  He was a member of the gospel group "Bishop Cooper and The Revelations".

Doobie was a kind and peaceful soul with a big heart. He was always ready to help others whenever needed.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Clara Bible, brother, Donald Ray, and wife Norvella C. Broades, and two sons Rodney J .Broades and Rickey a Scott.

He is survived by daughters, Shanna Lynn Lewis Bible, Kiki, Vetecia Broades all of Oklahoma City, Katina Myrk of Idabel, sons, Shurrod, and Demarkus Broades of Oklahoma City, brother Charles (Carol) Bible of Buffalo, TX, partner, Cathy Pearson of Idabel, cousins Desire Hunter of Oklahoma City, Fredrick Burris of Choctaw, Oklahoma and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

His Funeral is set for 11 am Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop William Cooper officiating.

Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
