Robert L. (Bobby J.) Butler was born on January 10, 1941 in Harris, Oklahoma to parents, Clemmie Butler and Ossie Burris. He transcended to his heavenly home on January 26, 2021 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Robert attended Riverside School in Harris, Oklahoma. In 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas and served a two-year stint in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemmie and Ossie. Also his siblings, Carrie Sue Johnson, Willie Burris, Rosie McVea Braxton, and Henry Burris.
Robert is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Joyce Joshua Butler. Daughters, Roshena Butler Washington and husband, Timothy of Texarkana, Texas; Roshana Braxton of Idabel; and Koeta Webster and husband, Tim of Idabel. He is survived by six grandchildren, Ingrid Brown, Chrest Frost, Jr., RoTavien Butler, Ja'Ryia Robinson,Tristen Washington, LaShontiana Griffin; and three great grandchildren, Christian Smith,Ja'Lasia Brown, and Ja'Laiyah Brown. Also, special sister-in-law, Joyce Giddens of Edmond, Oklahoma. Special friends, Larry Townsend, William Sanders, Geno, and Wendell Johnson. Also, remembering him fondly are his nieces, nephews , cousins, and other friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 6th at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Harris, Oklahoma. Rev. Roy Hooks will officiate the service.
The family requests that each attendee wear a mask.
Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
