REFLECTION OF LIFE
Mr. Restee Hooks, Jr., passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, in the Veteran's Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a lengthy illness.
Restee Jr., was born on May 27, 1941, in Idabel, OK, to the late Mr. Restee Hooks, Sr., and Mrs. Ola Mae Hooks. He was the third oldest of twelve children.
Restee Jr., was raised in the Galilee Community, attended church at Galilee Baptist Church, and was baptized at an early age. He attended Slater School and Booker T. Washington High School, Idabel, Ok. Upon leaving High School, he enlisted into The United States Army, where he voluntarily served for 3 years. Upon returning home, he became actively involved in church, and he, along with brothers and friends, formed a gospel group and performed in various local churches. In the early 1970's, he and his brothers found and established HOOKS CONSTRUCTION, where they became well known for their quality of work, and were in great demand throughout the state of Oklahoma, and beyond. The business grew rapidly, and became very lucrative…it was then that Restee Jr., coined the phrase, "Money is No Object…Money don't make me, I make money!!!"
He was a very caring and generous individual, who was always willing to lend a hand, and had sincere love for his family and friends. He believed strongly in education, and was considered a genius in his subjects, excelling in Mathematics.
Restee Jr., is preceded in death by his parents, Restee Hooks, Sr., and Ola Mae Hooks, two sons—Karl B. Hooks and Restee Tyrone Howell-Hooks; two brothers—Earl LeRoy Hooks and Elvie Hooks; two sisters—Willie B. Hooks and Lillie P. Hooks Crutchfield-Smith.
Restee Jr., leaves to cherish his memory, his granddaughter, Ebony Hooks, Idabel, OK, grandson Restee Tyrone Howell-Hooks, Jr., Edmond, OK…brothers John H. Hooks (Linda) and Curtis L. Hooks, both of Idabel, OK, Dr. Edmond L. Hooks, M.D. (Gwendolyn),
Pastor Roger E. Hooks (Bertil), and Pastor Martin D. Hooks (Barbara) all of Oklahoma City, OK….sisters Loretta J. Hooks Sheffey-Riley of San Diego, CA, and Leola M. Hooks-Wright of Edmond, OK…one Uncle, Mr. O.V. Lewis of Amarillo, TX., he also leaves two great grandchildren,
Karliekus and Joy of Idabel, OK, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends.
Restee Jr.'s final resting place will be in Williamston Cemetery, Idabel, OK.
