Odie Bee Lowe

Odie Bee Lowe Sr. was born on June 24, 1920 in Walkerville, Arkansas to Joseph Lowe and Carrie Osburne Lowe. His soul took flight on December 16, 2011 at the age of 91 in St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He served in the United States Army; entrance of service was January 5, 1943. While serving his country, he received decorations, citations, a World War II Victory ribbon and was named a great PFC guard patrolman. He was also a trained rifleman. He was honorably discharged from Camp Chaffee, Arkansas on February 25, 1946. He pursued and succeeded as a trades carpenter and was known and sought after throughout McCurtain County for his professional skills.

He confessed Christ at an early age and was a long time member of Rose Hill Baptist Church in Idabel, Oklahoma, where he served many years as the Sunday School Superintendent, an ordained Deacon, and as chairman of the Deacons Board. Odie B. Lowe Sr. was truly a gentle man; he was loved and respected by those privileged to have known him. His favorite pass time was playing dominoes and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elzada Lowe, Pamela Moss (daughter), Curtis Lowe Sr. (son), and Robbie Moss (granddaughter).

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Clara Lowe of the home; seven sons, Odie Lowe Jr., McAlester, OK., Alford Lowe Sr.(Linda Faye) Seattle, WA., Vernon Dale Lowe (Cynthia), Vacaville, CA., Cletis Lowe Sr. (Sandra) McAlester, OK., Derrell Lowe Sr. (Darlene),Texarkana, TX., Dennie Lowe, Rowlett, TX., Michael D. Lowe (Sebrena) Rowlett, TX., one stepson Floyd Hawkins Jr. (Addye Faye) Kansas City, KS., three stepdaughters, Evelena Lady Ashley (Bobby), Idabel, OK., Brenda C. Andrews, Rowlett, TX., and Ruby N. Hawkins, Idabel, OK., 35 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are set for 1:00 pm Friday December 23, 2011 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Vernon Lowe officiating.

Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
