Mildred Piggee was born March 4, 1929 in Ben Lomond, Arkansas. Mildred was the fourth and youngest daughter of Harry and Ella (Smith) Piggee. The family soon moved to Idabel, OK where Mildred attended Slater Elementary and Booker T. Washington School. Mildred confessed Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Rose Hill Baptist Church in Idabel, OK.
While in high school, Mildred married Leroy Clifton Hill, Sr in 1946 and soon after moved to Oklahoma City. To this union, two children were born; Gloria (Hill) Silva and Leroy Hill, Jr. Following her divorce, Mildred moved back to Idabel and two more children were born: Jackie Walker and Larry Piggee.
Affectionately called "Dump" by her siblings, nieces and nephews Mildred continued to live in Idabel, OK where she raised her four children and worked as a social worker for McCurtain County Community Action Group, Tyson Chicken Plant, Red River Ammunition Plant and Hill Nursing Home.
In 2010, Mildred moved back to Oklahoma City to be closer to her first great-grandchild, her grandson Marcus even came up from Tennessee to help with the move. It was difficult leaving 1209 SW Quincy, the home left to her by her parents which had been the nestling place for all the family for several years. She always had a pie or zucchini nut loaf waiting on her grandchildren's visit. She was somewhat temporaneous and opinionated and when you disagreed with her, she would say "I am finished talking about this", only to bring the subject up later.
Mildred loved the game of basketball and even followed in the footsteps of her sisters playing forward. When visiting, she would often ask "Did you see that game? That sure was a good game." She also loved gardening and maintained a variety of vegetables in the backyard of her home in Idabel. She also loved flowers and plants which were obvious from the scenic view from her home. Upon her declining health, Mildred returned back to Idabel and was admitted to Hill Nursing Home in 2017 where she stayed until her death.
