Michael "Mickey" Wayne Welch

Michael Wayne "Mickey" Welch departed this life on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Idabel, OK. He was born on March 06, 1958 to Mr. LeRoy Welch Sr. and Ms. Willena Johnson in Idabel, OK.

Michael grew up in the Oak Grove community in Idabel. He accepted CHRIST at an early age and became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Idabel. He attended Oak Grove Elementary School and Idabel High School where he graduated in 1977. He was a member of the Idabel Warriors basketball team. After high school, he attended Oklahoma State Technical University in Okmulgee.

Michael later became a member of Rebecca Baptist Church under the pastorship of his brother, Pastor LeRoy Welch, Jr. where he remained until his death.

He was employed at Brinkley Auctions for many years. He later moved to the job he loved; detailing cars and trucks. He also worked at Thompson Trucking Company until his health started to fail.

Preceding him in death was his parents, LeRoy Welch, Sr. and Willena Johnson; and seven brothers, Roy Welch, Hilton Welch, Leon Welch, Charlie Welch, Emmit Welch, Rev. LeRoy Welch, Jr. and Henry Johnson, Jr.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory: Ten sisters – Liz Richards (William), Lula Johnson, and  Earnestine Washington (James), all of Houston, TX; Sandra Welch and Arbidean Johnson, both of Idabel, OK; Idera Ignant (Robert), Carolyn Childs (Kenneth), and Betty Baker (Elmer), all of Oklahoma City, OK; Zettie Vettisan of Oakland, CA; and Linda Harrell of Fresno, CA. Three brothers – Terry Welch (Pam) of Dallas, TX; Eugene Welch of Amarillo, TX; and Clayborn Ray Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK. Three aunts – Louise Johnson, Wilma Hickman, and Jessie Lewis. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
