Those we love remain with us; For love itself lives on and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone; Those we love can never be more than a thought apart; For as long as there is a memory, they'll live on in our heart.
Lillie Mae Vaughn began this life on August 24, 1930, in Idabel, Oklahoma. She is the second oldest child to Claude Williams and Laura Sanders Williams.
Lillie Mae grew up in a loving Christian home. The word of God says in the Book of Proverbs 22:6, 'Train up a child in the way he should go; And when he is old, he will not depart from it. Because the foundation was laid, Lillie Mae accepted Christ at a very early age.
Lillie was a faithful member of Spencer Chapel Baptist Church, who also served under the previous leadership before the current Pastor Lee Sherman Pickings. She served faithfully in many capacities such as Treasurer, Mission, and Sunday School teacher, in addition to being a Choir member. She loved singing those "Old One Hundreds'. Regardless of the changes in leadership, her faithfulness and service was to the Lord- 'only what we do for Christ shall last...' Col 3:23-24 KJV.
Lillie Mae lived most of her life in Idabel and she enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren in various states. She didn't mind 'getting up and going-always on the go'. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel, Oklahoma, and was part of the graduating class of 1951.
A beautiful, strong woman she was, met and married Otis Vaughn until their death. Lillie Mae excelled in many fields of employment. She worked at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City, followed by Kellwood Sewing factory and finally retiring from Tyson Chicken Plant. 'Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares' Heb 13:2. She NEVER met a stranger and ALWAYS carried a smile on her face. Lillie had such a warm heart and giving spirit-she will be dearly missed.
Lillie Mae is preceded in death by her parents Claude Williams and Laura Sanders Williams, Martha Spagner Williams; Siblings: Ben Henry Williams, Lola Williams, Hosie Williams, and Willie Williams.
