Leola Giddens

Leola Giddens was born September 4, 1922 to Levi and Serfronia Moore-Giddens in Harris, Oklahoma. Serfronia was blessed with six children, of which Leola was the youngest. She was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Hill's Nursing Home in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Leola lived in the Harris Community during her youth and became a member of the Antioch Baptist Church at an early age. At nineteen, she left this area and moved to California where she became an employee of an airplane factory where she worked for many years. She returned to the Harris area in 1986 and reunited with the Antioch Baptist Church. Leola worked as an usher at the church until her health began to decline.

She is preceded in death by: daughter, Alice Gentry; five siblings, Mary Goodlow, Gracie Walker, Mineola Thompson, Levi Giddens, and Melvin Henderson; one great granddaughter Aalayah Rochelle Gene Gentry.

Leola leaves to cherish her memories; one brother, Troy Henderson; two grandchildren, Derrick Pearson and Kristen Gentry; seven great grandchildren, one great, great grandson; a very special niece and nephew, Regina and Roger Woods; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Leola was a loving and generous person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services are set for 1 pm Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Antioch Baptist Church with Dr. O D Woods as Eulogist.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
