On Thursday, August 16, 2016, GOD mercifully silenced the lips of our beloved LaShawn A. Burton English. She was born on June 13, 1962 to the late Zelma Totten and Lloyd L. Burton in Oakland, CA.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend with a heart of gold and a smile that warmed the hearts of everyone with whom she had contact. Her love for people was overwhelming and beautiful. It was that love that led her to a career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse; often traveling from Oakland to Sacramento to Modesto to work. After that job ended, she continued to help others in the Modesto school district. She and her sons relocated to Oklahoma in 2004. She was employed with Wal Mart for many years which again provided with an opportunity to "be of service."
She fellowshipped with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Idabel for a number of years. Later, she united with Oak Grove Baptist Church in Wright City. She was truly a Christian walking by faith and not by sight.
LaShawn leaves to cherish her memory: sons – Daryl English and Zeland English, both of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers – Tommy (Erlene) Ramsey and Don Juan Cornelius, both of CA. She is also remembered by her granddaughters whom she adored, Angeliyah Ivonna English and Zaylie English. Also, a host of family and friends.
The home going service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at First Baptist Church, Westside in Idabel. Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
