Kennth Roy Haney affectionately known as Ken, Kenny, and to some, Haney. Kenny was born July 30, 1952, in Idabel, Oklahoma to Clarie Haney and Theodore Grissandancer. Kenny attended Booker T Washington High School 1967/68 Sophomore Class and graduated Gray High 1970 Class. Kenny attended Langston University until joining the US Air Force from 1971 -1976. Kenny earned his Master Journeyman license and began his career with McElhaney Plumbing until they closed. He went on to work for MSI (Mechanical Systems Inc.) until he retired in 2014. Kenny was a member of Local Union 441 since 1988.
Kenny married Mary Lee Wade and with this union came Sherman Haney and Shereda Polk. As time passed while working on a plumbing project at the SG County Courthouse he met his soulmate, Marsha Ector. February 21, 1998, they wed and with this union he gained a son Timothy Ziggler.
Kenny was an avid Sooners fan, and an active member of the OU Club of Wichita since 2010. Everything stopped when they had a game. It was always extra special when he could watch a game with his sons. Kenny loved to debate, fish and support young people’s educational endeavors by donating to scholarships.
Kenny attended St. James Metropolitan CME Church in Idabel, Oklahoma, which he continued to support until his passing. In Wichita, he attended New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with his bonus sister Sondra Payne until his union with Marsha. St. Mark Church of God in Christ became his church home under the leadership of Bishop J.C. Gilkey (he loved his preaching).
Kenny was all about family. He spoiled his wife Marsha rotten, literally. He loved being a “Pops”, but it was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that held the keys to his heart. Kenny was big on family reunions, and nothing could keep him from attending. What some of you may not know is he had mad culinary skills, in the wee hours of the morning, around 2:00am to be exact he could be found in the kitchen whipping up a meal. He insisted Marsha get up and join him. He would not take no for an answer and was satisfied as long as she took a few bites of everything.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Marsha, sons Sherman of Guthrie, OK, Timothy of Oklahoma, and daughter Shereda Polk of Texas, sister/aunt Lois Bujol of Oklahoma City, OK, brother/uncle Robert Haney of EL Sobrate, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claire Haney, Theodore Gissandaner, twin sons Keith and Kenneth Haney, sister/aunts, Alnona Thomas, Dorothy Hall, Cutee Wilburn, Billie Haney, Marjorie Bracy, brother/uncles George Davis, Leroy Haney, Henry G. Haney, Charles Haney, John Haney, and James Haney.
The family of Kenneth Haney would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Byron Wright, Sister Benita Chaplin, and the New Beginnings Seventh-Day Adventist Church for their unwavering expression of love and support. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, prayers and kind gestures. St. Marks United Methodist Church Family, we not only saw your acts of love, but they were also felt deeply. Lastly, it was the medical care given by doctors Bonnie Tibbe, MD and Joshua Tibbe, MD, provided a much-needed piece of mind for our family.
