Juanita Cobb

March 4, 1929 — February 27, 2014

Juanita Cobb was born March 04, 1929 to the late S.W. and Izola Cobb. Ms.. Cobb went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was their only daughter born and reared in Idabel, Oklahoma.


Juanita attended Slater High School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel. She was a graduate of Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. She received a Master's Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.


She taught school at Slater, Booker T. Washington and Southeast Schools (all in Idabel) for thirty-two years. Ms. Cobb retired from teaching in 1984. Juanita was a member of Rising Sun (Chapter 144) Order of Eastern Star, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and several educational organizations. Ms. Cobb was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She was also a worker in the community helping others.


Ms. Cobb's survivors include: neighbor and caregiver, Ruby Vaughn of Idabel; first cousin and caregiver Joe Dillingham, Jr and wife Martha of Sacramento, California; cousins, Kenneth Dillingham of Sacramento, Dennis Dillingham, Stockton, California, Linda Clayton of Oklahoma City, Barbara Davis of Oklahoma City, Anita Yeager of Oklahoma City; and a host of other cousins in California, fellow teachers, and friends.

Funeral arrangements are set for 12 noon March 1, 2014 at St. James C M E Methodist Church, Idabel, Oklahoma.

Interment will follow at the Richland Cemetery Idabel.
