John Calvin Cockrill, 73 of Redland, Oklahoma, passed from this life at Paris, Texas on Sunday, Oc-tober 7, 2012. He was born December 26, 1938 near Antlers, Oklahoma, the youngest child born to Cal-vin Henry and Melvie Bell Watson-Cockrill.
Johnny grew up in the Moyers-Kelland area. He married Nina Sue Henson-Cockrill on December 9, 1957. Johnny and Nina were the parents of four children: Johnnie Sue Cockrill-Hill of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; Nancy Cockrill-Worley of Prosper, Texas; Cindy J. Cockrill, of Prosper, Texas; Jeremy C. Cock¬rill of Frisco, Texas. Nina preceded him in death leav¬ing their children to cherish his memory.
John also survived by his second wife, Glenda Cockrill of the home: whom he married March 9, 1999 in DeQueen Arkansas, and their three children: Jessica Cockrill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; John Calvin Cockrill, Jr. and Dylan Cockrill of the home.
Johnny loved to tell a good story and visit with family and friends. He loved gardening and was a friend to all animals, great and small.
At an early age, John developed an affinity for any¬thing mechanical. He worked as a diesel mechanic and welder for several years in the Dallas area before returning to Oklahoma. He worked as a millwright for Weyerhaeuser Company until his retirement.
Johnny was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Thelma Lee Mako; a brother, Samuel Morris Cockrill; and two nephews, Morris Cockrill and Da¬vid Huck.
In addition to his seven children and wife, he also leaves his beloved sister, Ruby Huck, eight grandchil¬dren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives to cherish his memory
A grave side service is set for 3:30 PM Monday October 15, 2012 at Antlers City Cemetery with Randy Cockrill Officiating
