John Rodney Barrett

John Rodney Barrett was born on January 8, 1933 in Monitor, Oregon to Ed and Alma Barrett. He was known by most as "Rod" and by the nephews "Uncle Roddy".

Rod grew up developing a variety of talents and skills such as riding bulls, flying planes, welding, ham radio operation, and lumberjack. He also had a love of motorcycles and was known to cut a rug back in the day. He loved to travel and learn new languages; he was fluent in Greek and German. Later in life, his passion was building an ultralight plane.

He dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized on April 15, 1961. He enjoyed volunteering his time by going from door to door sharing the Bible's hope for the future and teaching others about the Bible.

Rod married his lovely wife Debra on December 16, 1973. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage together, building their family, and making many friends that would become like family.

Rod is preceded in death by his father and mother Ed and Alma Barrett, and his son Johnny Barrett.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife Debra Barrett, daughter Sacheen and husband Anthony Eppolito of Houston, TX, daughter Suzella and husband Dominic Silva of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Elma and husband John Keaton of Roseburg, OR, daughter Helen Nelson of Roseburg, OR, sister Fay Weatherly of Plains, MT, and brother Mike Barrett and wife Sarah of Portland, OR and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rod peacefully passed away on August 31, 2024, in Houston, TX. But this is not the end of his story, he looked forward to the real life that lies ahead when he will be able to do all the things he loved, and then some, in perfect health.
