John H. Barksdale was born February 12, 1992 in Houston, Texas to Tracy Barksdale. John was taken to be with the Lord, at the age of 20 years and thirteen days, on February 25, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was DeKalb's own little computer genius. John was definitely a shop-a-holic. John was both athletic and artistic. He played basketball and football while attending school. His junior year of high school, John was asked to design the Senior Yearbook, recreate the Auxiliary Gym floor and redesign the DeKalb Bears logo mascot. His smile and laughter was contagious; his kind heart was one of a kind.
John leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Tracy Barksdale; daughter, Mariah Nevaeh Barksdale; grandmothers Brenda Barksdale and Carrie Shephard; grandfathers, Roy Barnes and Ronald Shephard; aunt, Stephanie Barksdale; uncle, John L. Barksdale; and brother, Seven Cartwright.
His presence on this earth will never be forgotten. John will be truly missed.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM Thursday March 1st, 2012 at the DeKalb High School Gym.
Interment will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, DeKalb, Texas.
