Jimmie L. Crutchfield was born on November 12, 1942, to Manuel and Lillian Crutchfield who preceded him in death.
He attended Slater Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel, OK. He graduated from high school in 1964 and went into the Army Services in 1965.
During his Army Career, Jimmie received the following awards: Purple Heart Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, National Defense Service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter award.
His tours of duty took him to Vietnam (2 tours) Thailand and Korea. He served 22 years and retired in 1987.
Jim loved life, he enjoyed helping others, watching westerns and sports, cooking, music, playing cards, and Domino's (rumor has it he was the Domino King of Idabel.) Jim enjoyed being surrounded by people and was always willing to help others, feeding and providing shelter.
On Saturday, August 19, 2023, the angel came to the V.A. Hospital in Dallas, TX to carry our beloved brother home. His soul took flight from this world of sin, sorrow, and pain to a place of eternal rest.
He joined his sister, Bobbye Golston Galloway, son Jimmy Dean Blakely, and both parents who preceded him in death.
Yet his memory shall forever be cherished by his brother, J.C. Crocket – Idabel, OK, sisters Charlie Mae Higgins (Raymond), Lancaster, TX, Charlene Crutchfield St. Paul, MN, Johnia Harris (W.L.), Cedar Hill, TX, Jaunita Piggee, Lancaster, TX. Grandson, Jimmy Peterson, great-granddaughter – Isabella Peterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
