In Loving Memory of Jerry Wayne Scott

Jerry Wayne Scott, age 66, passed away on August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born on November 4, 1959, in Idabel, Oklahoma, to the late Elma Lois Scott Jackson.

Known affectionately to family and friends as "Jero" he lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, laughter, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.

At an early age, Jerry attended Richland School before continuing his education at Central Elementary School. He graduated from Gray High School with the Class of 1977 and later attended Kiamichi Tech, where he earned his Oklahoma Certified Welder License.

Jerry began his working career at the Ice House before joining Quality Rock, Inc and Storey Iron & Metal, where he dedicated 15 years of service, before beginning his career with SETCO. Eventually, Jerry became a self-employed welder, a profession he truly loved and took great pride in. He was known for his exceptional skill, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality craftsmanship, earning the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Outside of work, Jerry found his greatest happiness in spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time outdoors, where he found peace and contentment.

Jerry never met a stranger. His warm smile, generous heart, and fun-loving spirit made everyone feel welcome. He was often the life of the gathering, bringing laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories wherever he went. Above all, Jerry was a devoted family man who could always be counted on in times of need. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing words of encouragement, or simply showing up, he touched countless lives through his compassion and generosity.

Jerry was also known for telling it like it was. His honesty, quick wit, and unmistakable sense of humor were as much a part of him as his generous heart. Those who knew him best understood that his straightforward nature came from a place of sincerity, and it was one of the many qualities that made him unforgettable.

Jerry's memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, and larger-than-life personality will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all whose lives he so deeply impacted.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children, Marquita Giddens of Denison, Texas; Asunta Scott and Jerry "Rock" Scott Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; and Arshayria Scott of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his brothers, Steve Scott of Idabel, Oklahoma, James Jackson (Patricia) of Idabel, Oklahoma, Tracey Johnson of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Michael Jackson (Sana) of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters, Karen Dunn (Dexter) of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Lisa Boston (Waylon) of Marion, Arkansas; his aunts, Linda Wright of Idabel, Oklahoma and Charlene Daniels of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his nine beloved grandchildren, Braylon Lewis, Anaya Livingston, Ayana Livingston, Brielle Scott, Maison Scott, Brandon Chavez, Rock Scott, Braydon Chavez, and Anika Scott; his special friend and companion of 20 years, Deborah Taylor of Idabel, Oklahoma; his brother from another mother, Angel Trejo of McAlester, Oklahoma and good friend, Hector Mendez of Idabel, Oklahoma; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Elma Lois Scott Jackson; his grandmother, Mary Scott; his aunts, Thelma Jackson, Loretta Jackson, Bennie Lewis, and Geneva Breedlove; and his uncles, James Otis Scott, Edward Lee Scott, Alvin H. Scott, Bobby Ray Scott, David Scott, and Luther Scott.

Jerry's memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, honesty, and larger-than-life personality will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the countless memories he created will remain a lasting source of comfort for all who were blessed to know him.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

Jerry's Funeral is set for 11am Friday August 14th, 2026, at Westside First Baptist Church 4 NW Enid Idabel, OK 74745 with Pastor John H Scott officiating.
