Hooper (Ben) Scales, was born February 6, 1936 to the late Irvin and Eskimo Scales in Clarksville, Texas. The family moved to Idabel, Oklahoma in 1946. Hooper gave up his earthly body June 2, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southern Oklahoma, in Durant, Oklahoma.
Hooper accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church (Westside).
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, and friend. Hooper enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. You could always get a good laugh, when you were in his company.
Ben worked for the Kellwood Sewing Factory for a number of years, as a mechanic. Afterwards, he was employed by the City of Idabel, until his retirement.
Hooper was united in marriage to Cutee Haney. Later, Hooper met and married Tommie McCarty and unto this marriage two sons were born, Marcy and Kyle Scales.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Eskimo Scales, wife; Tommie Scales, brothers; Wallace Horace, Willie Andrew, Irvin, Jr., Velester , and Harold Lorenza Scales; one sister, Theolia Berry.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sons; Marcy Scales, Idabel, OK, and Kyle Scales of Paris, TX., sisters; Vera Cobb, Harlingen, TX., Lenora Mumphrey and Virginia Williams, both of Pittsburg, CA., and Velma Hopkins, of Idabel, OK., a number of grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services are set for 2 pm Friday June 12, 2015 at First Baptist Westside with Rev. Russell Latson officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery
