Herman R. Hunter was born on October 10, 1950 to Odessa Hunter-Nero and Otis Rogers in Tom, Oklahoma.
He attended Pine Ridge Elementary School in Tom, Oklahoma and Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was a member of the class of 1968; the last graduating class at BTW. After graduation, Herman attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He majored in accounting and completed the program with honors. He earned his Associate of Science degree in Accounting.
Following graduation from OSUIT, he launched his accounting career with an accounting firm in Dallas, Texas. He later worked for an accounting firm in Oklahoma City, then; Jack Bell's Accounting Firm in Idabel. Prior to his retirement, he worked in accounting and payroll for Nurses-to-Go Home Health Agency in Idabel.
Herman loved "life." He enjoyed raising his horses, his dogs, watching sports (especially baseball), and sipping on his favorite beverage. As a teenager, he played Center Fielder in a baseball league known as "Red Ellis Red Caps." Rumor has it that he was a pretty good baseball player. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and never missed attending family reunions, no matter how far he had to travel. He also loved planning and attending the Washington, Slater, Riverside reunions. Herman was instrumental in organizing and working with the committee.
He recently rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized while he was residing at "Accel at Crystal Parks Rehab Center" in Oklahoma City.
On the morning of August 7, 2018, the angel of silence came into Hospice Quality Care Hospital in Del City, Oklahoma, and sealed the lips of our beloved brother, Herman. His soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of eternal rest.
His brother Benjamin Hunter, and both parents preceded him in death.
His memory shall forever be cherished by his Brothers, Charles (Marjorie) Burris, Idabel, Oklahoma; Andrew Hunter and DeWayne Hunter, both of Oklahoma City; Sisters, Doris Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Gwendolyn Hunter-Campbell (Henry), Tyler, Texas; Brenda (Ardis) Cubit, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sheila Foreman, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Rita (J.B.) Hall, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his Foster Grandson, T'Majah Scales, Bethany, Oklahoma, whom he dearly loved; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
