On July 13, 2024, Henry W. Boyd completed his earthly journey. He peacefully passed from time to eternity at Hill Nursing Home in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Henry was born on September 30, 1940, in Haworth. Oklahoma. He is the youngest of six children born to Elbert and Annie Mae Boyd. He was passionately called "Dub" by those who knew and loved him.
Soon after graduating from Booker T. Washington, Henry relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a dedicated employee of OCV Valve Control Company for over 40 years. As an expertly trained individual in automatic control valves, Henry exemplified superior service. He retired from the company when his health began to decline.
Henry loved to sing praises and uplift the name of God. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Saint Andrew Baptist Church in Tulsa. Being a member of the male chorus, Henry sang with enthusiasm and joy.
He moved back to Idabel in 2020 to reside at Hill Nursing Home. Everyone there became part of his family. His radiant smile and gospel singing were uplifting to the residents. He loved to listen to the gospel singer, Lee Williams. Although he had health challenges, he desired to attend church services. Mark Frost was faithful in picking him up to take him to Rebecca, Baptist Church where he became a member of the congregation.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Annie Mae Boyd; one son, Dewayne Boyd; one daughter, Andrea Boyd; two brothers: Bennie and Herchell Boyd; and two sisters: Era Jean Boyd McDonald and Myrtle Ruth Miller.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include one son; Brian (Sonja) Debose of Arlington, TX; One daughter: Deborah (Steven) Pruitt of Rowlett, TX. 6 grandsons; Steven Jr, Bryan, Kendrick, Trae, Brian Jr and Malachi. 3 granddaughters: Stacia, Brishon, and Brailon. Six great-grandchildren: Trae'yon, Alaiyia, Mariah, Landry, and Josenah.
One sister, Allie Boyd Terry of Idabel, OK; A dedicated nephew who assisted him with special care, Timothy Webster, A special friend, Gloria Lewis and a host of relatives and friends.
His funeral is set for 11 am Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at Rebecca Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
A visitation is scheduled from 5-7 on Friday, July 26th, 2024, at the funeral home.
