Mr. Harvey Taylor was born October 25, 1913 to Sam and Mary Taylor in Tom, Oklahoma. November 25, 2010 at the age of 97, Mr. Taylor passed away at St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, Texas.
He grew up and attended school in the Tom school system.
Mr. Taylor met and married Irene James Jan 15, 1944, and to this union, two children were born.
Mr. Taylor worked a number of jobs during his life time beginning with Vern Aircraft in Seattle, Washington, General Motors in Detroit, Michigan, United Steel Mill Gary, Indiana, Red River Army Depot Texarkana, Texas, Texarkana Country Club, Texarkana, Arkansas, and the City of Idabel retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Shawnee Town Lodge 121 and the Consistory 242 – 32nd Degree Mason.
Mr. Taylor was a faithful member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and President of the choir. He was also the treasure of the non-denominational Gospel Choir for years, and a member of the Oklahoma Singing Convention.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.
Mr. Taylor leave to cherish his memory; one son, Edward James and wife Flossene of Covert, Michigan; one daughter, Mary James, Idabel, 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, numerous great great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are set for 1 PM Friday, December 3, 2010 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Cotton officiating. Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
A family visitation is set for Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
