Gustavia French-Walker was born on September 7, 1923 in Harris, Oklahoma to Alberta Walker and M.C. Taylor. She passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Hill Nursing Home in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Gustavia was raised in the Harris Community. She married William French, Sr. and moved to the Oak Grove Community. She attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Ed Graves. Gustavia was a devoted mother and wife.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Alberta and M.C.; daughter, Elneta Walker-Breedlove; an infant daughter, Irene French; two sons, Henry L. French and William French, Jr.
Gustavia leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters; Flora Franks and husband Rev. Carl Franks, Sr. of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Alice King of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Doris Clark of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Loris Gordon of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Alvin R. French and wife Bonita of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Bryan French of Ardmore, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Jurlene Sweats of Greenville, Texas, Esterlene Butler of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Joyce Giddens of Idabel, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are set for 11 AM Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. James CME Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmie Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery
