Valliant

Glenda Sue Buchanan McRee of Valliant Oklahoma was born October 3, 1951, in Dequeen, AR. to Jim Cecil "Pug" & Charlene Buchanan. She departed this life peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the Broken Bow Nursing Home. Glenda's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication, particularly to Jehovah God, a commitment she embraced in the early 1990s. Inspired by her beloved sister, Bev, who had dedicated herself to the same path many years earlier, Glenda devoted herself to sharing her faith with anyone who was willing to listen. She remained a faithful Witness of Jehovah until her final moments, drawing strength and purpose from her beliefs.

Glenda's academic excellence shone throughout her educational journey. She graduated as Valedictorian from Wright City High School in 1969 and continued her pursuit of knowledge, earning honors from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1973. She began her professional career at Baylor Medical in Houston, Texas, where she found fulfillment in lab research. In 1976, she made the decision to move back to Valliant and explore a career in teaching. Glenda thrived in the classroom, cherishing the opportunity to impact the lives of her students. Her passion for education and her heartfelt concern for every student who walked through her doors led to a fulfilling career that she continued until her retirement in 1994. Even after retiring, she imparted her wisdom and experience by teaching a few classes at the ET Dunlap Center.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beverly (James) Johnson of Wright City, Oklahoma, her brother Jimmy Ray "Sonny" (Betty) Buchanan of Poway, California, and her sister Teresa Tyler of Valliant. She is survived by her loving family, including a niece, Anita (Don) Johnson, of Wright City, Oklahoma; a nephew, Jeff (Kimberly) Johnson, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; a niece, Tammy (Walt) Buchanan; a nephew, Tyson Buchanan, both of Poway, California; and a nephew, Vance Tyler, of Clarkesville, Texas. Glenda also cherished her grandnephews Jay (Brooke) Lindly and Jon Lindly, both of Durant, Oklahoma, and grandnieces Jennifer Johnson and Jessica (Kienan) Corcoran, both of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. A great-grandnephew, TJ Lindly, of Durant, Oklahoma, was also part of her cherished family.

In addition to her family, Glenda leaves behind two very special friends, Beverly Phillips and DeeAnn Smith, who stood by her side throughout her life. The family's love and appreciation for these remarkable women cannot be overstated.

A Funeral Service will be held on February 19, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Valliant, Oklahoma, beginning at 10:00 AM. The family invites all who knew and loved Glenda to join in honoring her memory and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all whom she encountered.
