Mrs. Geneva Faye Wright passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the age of 100 years, one month, and eight days, at Memorial Heights Nursing Center in Idabel, Oklahoma.
She was born in Idabel to Josephine McDonald- and Benjamin James Casteel and was the second of five children.
Geneva joined First Baptist Church, Westside of Idabel at the age of fourteen where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Geneva attended school in Idabel and was a member of the first class to attend and graduate from Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel. She was an avid basketball fan and player and was said to be an excellent forward in her prime.
Geneva was married to Mr. Council Wright, who served as Principal of Booker T. Washington High School, and later as a teacher at Gray High School. She was a devoted homemaker and wife to her husband. For their past time, they enjoyed fishing together.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Council Wright; parents, Josephine and Benjamin Casteel; and four brothers, Winfred, Arnett, Cornell, and Clarance Casteel.
Geneva leaves to cherish her memories a nephew, Michael Casteel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and several cousins, and a devoted friend Mrs. Sweet Ferguson of Idabel.
Services are set for 10 am Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, Westside with Rev. Russell Latson, officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
