Garry L Dixon

On August 8, 2026, as Garry Dixon lay peacefully in his bed at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, God called his name and welcomed him home to receive his eternal reward.

Garry was born in Idabel, OK on January 5, 1972, to his parents Darnell (Dunlap) Dixon and MacArthur Dixon. At a young age, Garry attended First Baptist Westside Church under the leadership of Reverend White in Idabel, Oklahoma. He also attended other churches throughout his life.

Prior to returning to Idabel, Oklahoma, Garry lived in the small town of Beaver Dam, Texas. He eventually moved back to Idabel, where he continued to make memories with family and friends.

Garry enjoyed breakdancing, fishing, and playing football. He was a very loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and also played football for the Idabel Warriors.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Darnell (Dunlap) Dixon and MacArthur Dixon; stepmother, Doris Dixon; uncles, Melvin “Boot” Dixon, Ernest “Haney” Dixon, and Roosevelt Dixon; aunts, Loretta Gates, Tilda Sims, and Marilyn Range; brothers, Ricky Dixon and Floyd Dixon; several nieces and nephews; and one grandchild.

He leaves to cherish his memory Sheila Donlap of Oklahoma City, OK; Brenda Dixon of Idabel, OK; Tracy Warren of Texas; Mack Dixon of Oklahoma City, OK; Paul Dixon of Texarkana, TX; Michael Dixon of Idabel, OK; and Arthur Dixon of Dallas, TX; along with a special friend who was like a brother, Marquette Hunter. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts and cherish the love, laughter, and precious memories they shared.

He also leaves to cherish his memory two aunts, Lea Herrod of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Betty Maddox of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one uncle, Mert Dixon of Wichita, Texas.

He leaves behind his children, Gary Dixon of McAlester, Oklahoma; Tavius Dixon of Paris, Texas; and Jodeci Harris of Idabel, Oklahoma; and his stepson, Gary Wayne Nolan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his nine precious grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
