Frankie Giddens

On Tuesday, June 30th, 2026, Sis. Frankie Giddens answered her final call and was beckoned to eternal rest.

Born on August 2, 1941, to Frank Jackson and Margaret (Herford) Jacson in Lubbock, Texas, Frankie G. Jackson Giddens was the oldest of three children.

Frankie attended and graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas. She played the saxophone in the marching band and earned the nickname, Saxjax. After graduation, she attended Langston University and majored in music. In 1962, she married, Clemmie C. Giddens, the “Love of her Life” in Los Angeles, California. To this union, two children were born, Curtis and Anthony.

For 28 years, she was a dedicated military wife traveling from state to state and country to country with her husband as he served his country. After his retirement in 1990, they relocated to his hometown, Idabel.

Frankie was employed with Idabel Public Schools where she worked as a paraprofessional and study hall aide. Students adored and respected her genuine, yet stern disposition. Students would often stop by and visit with her before classes, between classes, and after classes. They started calling her, “Mrs. G” and sought her out for her advice and wisdom.

She was a faithful member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, Idabel. Frankie was known for her charitable ways; always helping when and where needed and ensuring that her pastor was taken care of.

Preceding her in death: Her parents; son, Anthony DeWayne; two sisters, Barbara and Michelle; and brother, Henry Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Clemmie Giddens (Husband of 63 years); son, Curtis Giddens; granddaughter, Antwanett (Dom) Shipman of Raleigh, North Carolina; Niece, Lynn Owens of Lubbock, Texas; Nephew, Robert Rafe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Damain Mitchell, Kandrust Mitchell, KaVosheia Riley, Tymeica Robinson; and special Godson, Jordan Johnson.

Also, Debra Dyson, mother of her beautiful granddaughter and great-granddaughter, and Nay Nay Bailey, a special person who was like a daughter and was always there when needed. She also leaves In-laws, nieces, cousins, nephews, and Sis. Leah Herrod and the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church Family.

Her Funeral is set for 11 am Saturday July 11th at the Bypass Church of Christ 120 W Lincoln Rd., Idabel, OK 74745

Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.
