Florida Cary

Florida Lee Cary, 61, of Idabel, OK, was called home on Friday, September 20, 2024. She was born on June 5, 1963, in Red River County, Texas, to the late Dock and Vestella Cary.

She graduated from Detroit High School in 1982 and later moved to Oklahoma. Florida had a passion for cooking and worked in the cafeteria at Forest Grove School for 10 years. She then joined the Idabel School System, where she worked for 19 years before retiring due to health reasons.

She is preceded in death by three brothers.

Florida leaves behind her loving husband, Luther Gist; her son, Fredrick Cary (LeeAnn) of Idabel; and two daughters, Florita Cary (Tatum) of Idabel and Sabrina Cary (Dannie) of Ada. She is also survived by her brothers, Issac Cary (Sue) of Clarksville, TX; Early Cary (Margaret) of Dallas, TX; Ray Cary (Melba) of Hampton, VA; and Michael Cary of Dallas, TX. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Emma Roberts, Mary Shaw (David) of Roxton, TX, and Laura Nunley Paris, TX.

Her grandchildren, Tristan, Jaylan, Camden, Danasia, and Karter, along with a host of family and friends, will cherish her memory.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Idabel High School Auditorium.

Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Bagwell, TX.

A visitation will be 6-8 on Friday evening September 27th, 2024 at the Funeral Home.
