Felix Ray Jones

On Saturday, October 29, 2016, GOD mercifully silenced the lips of our beloved Felix Ray Jones. He was born on December 29, 1946 to the late Velma Lee Jones Clardy and Henry S. Johnson Sr.

Felix joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at young age. He attended Oak Grove Elementary and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1964. He met and married Willie Mae Beasley; two children were born to their union. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War and exited with honorable discharge. After a brief stay in Idabel, he moved to Kansas City, MO in 1975 and established residence.

He attended Penn Valley Community College and earned an associate applied science degree in food service. It was there that he met and married Alfreda Mays. Felix was employed for 35 years as a Chef at Rockhurst University, a private co-educational Jesuit university in Kansas City, MO. He retired in 2014.

Felix was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Alfreda; two daughters, Theresa and Tesia; sister, Lillie Johnson Morgan; two brothers, Henry S. Johnson, Jr. and Henry Lee Johnson; his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Children, Felix Ray (Elonda) Johnson, Jr., and Felecia Rena Mathenia, both of Oklahoma City, OK; Jefferson May, Lodi, CA; Gregory Mays, Rutherfordton, NC; and Michael Barker, Kansas City, MO. Sisters, Betty (Elma) Baker, Oklahoma City, OK; Arbidean Johnson, Idabel; and Sherry (Robert) Merriweather, Amarillo, TX., Brothers, Donel (Minnie) Jones and Edward Jones, all of Idabel; Vincent Johnson, Lawton, OK; and Sammy Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK.

Also cherishing his memory is: Sister-in-law, Betty Johnson, Idabel, Aunts,; Ethel Webster, California; Annie Belcher, Bellville, MI; and Elmer Collins, Milwaukee, WI. Uncles, Rev. Earl (Sharon) Jones, Kansas City, KS; and Robert (Jeneda) Jones, Ardmore, OK, four grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
