Emma George Moore

April 8, 1930 — July 4, 2017

Emma George Moore was born on April 8, 1930. She lived most of her life in Eagletown, Oklahoma and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church. In 1994, she relocated to Richmond, California and lived there for five years.   She returned to Oklahoma in 1999, settling in Broken Bow.

She would often tell family members about the hardship of growing up poor, share-cropping with her father, and picking cotton from dawn to dust. (Picking cotton was hard work; but she always bragged about how fast she could pick it.)  She instilled the value of hard-work in her children.  And Glory to God, she lived to see many of her children graduate college and go on to have successful careers and lives.

Emma went to Glory on July 4, 2017.  Preceeding her in death were her: Parents,  Fannie Polk George and Harvey George; brother, Warren G. Polk; sister, Kizzie George-Brown; sons, Brian E. Moore (Private, US Army), and Eric Moore; and grandson, David Moore Jr.

She leaves to celebrate her memories: Sisters, Allene George-Middleton and Earlene George-Bates; daughters, Josephine Lewis Moore-Woods (John), Chaney M. Moore-Helms (Bobby), Pauline Moore, Patty D. Moore, Brenda J. Moore, and Diane C. Moore; grandchildren, Roshanda Helms-Williams (Patrick), Brandon L. Hunter, Victor R. Jones, Moshelle Helms, Jasmin Woods and Brian David Johnson Moore. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to celebrate her memory.

Emma instilled her hard work ethic, her religion, and her character into her children.  Her legacy to her children is that they always look out for one another.

We thank God for our mom's inner strength; an inner strength that drove us to succeed and to never forget where we came from.
