Donell Wright was born October 11, 1952 in Idabel to Vernon Wright and Lillie B. Golston Wright, whom both preceded him in death.
Donell grew up in the Harris community where he graduated from Haworth High School in 1971. He was a player on the Haworth Lions basketball team.
Donell loved sports, but his prize possession was his 1972 red and white drop top Buick GS Skylark which he owns to this day. He also loved being out on the lake fishing and enjoying the peace and quiet. His true character exudes kindness and generosity towards each and every person he met. He gave to others never expecting anything in return.
Donell united with Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was Superintendent of Sunday School.
He enlisted in the National Guard on August 1, 1974 and served 8 years, retiring as a Sergant E5. He was employed with McCurtain County Forestry Department, and the Valliant Paper Mill. Donell also worked in maintenance personnel for the Health Department, Memorial Height Nursing Home and DHS where he was employed until he was called home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Henretta of 45 years, two children; Micheal Deon Wright of Idabel, OK, Melisende Don Barnes (Ronnie) of Heartland, TX., three grandchildren: Keylan Makale Wright of Wright City, OK., Melonnie Renee Barnes of Heartland, TX., and future bundle of joy Justyce Mae Don Wright of Hugo, OK., one sister; Verlene Moore of Tulsa OK., brothers; Vernon Wright Jr., James Wright, David Murphy (Kathy) of Tulsa OK., Laresse of Idabel, Thomas Mosley (Detrice) of Idabel, Ok., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
