Dollie Mae Johnson Murphy

Dollie Mae Johnson-Murphy, beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 30th, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on October 7th, 1942, in Idabel, Ok. to Oscar and Marie Johnson.

A faithful member of the Idabel Church of God, Dollie accepted God at an early age, and her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life. She attended Booker T. Washington-Slater High School, graduating in 1961, and went on to have a fulfilling career, retiring from Tyson Foods in 2004.

Dedicating her life to her faith and service to others, the devotion to helping the elderly was a hallmark of Dollie's life. She spent countless hours cooking, visiting, and praying for those she cared for, embodying the spirit of love and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed the companionship and comfort of her loyal dog, "Niko", who was by her side through many cherished moments.

An avid gardener, Dollie found joy in nurturing her plants and flowers creating beautiful gardens and spaces that reflected her vibrant spirit. As a true servant of the Lord, Dollie used her hands and feet to do the work of God, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. She was also a proud breast cancer survivor, which was a testament to her strength and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Dollie is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Marie Johnson; one sister Reather Johnson; four brothers, Charles, Earnest, Ervin, and Albert; son, Elex Johnson; and husband Mitchell Murphy, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters Vickie (Don) Betts of Arlington, TN; Valarie (Johnny) Rayford of Clinton, MD; Regina (Eddie) Miller, Sr.; seven grandchildren; Deveshia Nolen, Johnny "Jay" Rayford, Jr., Kiara Byrd, Taylor Marie Rayford, Justin Betts, Marcus Callahan-Johnson, and Nicholas Betts; Three great-grandchildren; Jayden Solomon, Kamrien Solomon and Kylan Smith; one brother Robert (Lula) Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at Bypass Church of Christ in Idabel, Ok with Pastor Wayne Freeman and Dr. A.W. Gulley officiating.

Interment to follow at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel, Ok.
