Darren E. Byrd

Darren Ellsworth "DD" Byrd departed this life on January 29, 2018.  Darren was born to the late Billy Ray Byrd, Sr. and Thelma J. (Byrd) Johnson in Idabel, Oklahoma on April 11, 1970.

Darren grew up in the Spring Hill Community, was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County, and a lifetime member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. He had numerous friends who all knew him as always wearing a smile. He attended school in Idabel where he graduated in 1988.  Darren was employed with the City of Idabel (Cemetery Department) and was a former employee of Tyson's Food for a number of years and retired from Tyson's in September, 2017.   Darren had a variety of hobbies which included many outdoor activities and helping others in the community.  He was a very generous hardworking family man.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Ray Byrd, Sr.; step-father, J. L. Johnson; brothers Thurman DeWayne Byrd, Sr.; and step-brother Emmitt Johnson.  He leaves to cherish his memory and is survived by his wife Ida "Chorcey" Byrd of the home; Children: Kiara Byrd of Commerce, Texas, Deveshia Nolen (Paris, Texas), Chendre "Zakia" Lewis of Durant, OK., RaQuitta (Robert "Boo") Williams of Broken Bow, OK., Colton Butler of Idabel, Darnell Wallace of Wright City, Marquell McFalls of Nashville, AR., Andre "Shawn" Lewis of Tulsa, OK., Mother Thelma Johnson of Idabel, Siblings(Brothers):  Jerry Jefferson of Texarkana, AR., Norman T. (Alisha) Byrd of Ada, OK. Billy (Angela) Byrd, Jr.; Reggie C. (LaTisha) Byrd, One Sister: Mary (Jason) Whitfield all of Idabel; a special friend (Carl Bee) and Aunt Shirley "Poeie" Cotton, 16 grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends
