Mr. Clarence Herrod, was born December 24, 1925 to Ed Herrod and Delphina (Della Green) Herrod in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Clarence passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his home in Idabel, Oklahoma.
When he was a young child his family moved to Oklahoma City then later to Las Cruces, New Mexico. As an adult, Clarence spent his life between the states of Texas and California. In the 1960's, Clarence made Pasadena, California his home. This is where he met and married his wife Lea (Dunlap) Herrod. Clarence was a hard working man who always took pride in detailing and shining his cars; he kept them looking new all the time. He was a person who never met a stranger in life and was always ready for a conversation.
In 1994, Clarence moved his family to Idabel, Oklahoma where he lived until his home going. In 1996, he received Christ as his Lord and Savior and was united with the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Shortly after becoming a member he was ordained as a deacon and was a faithful servant until his health failed him.
Clarence was the second oldest of fourteen children, of which ten of them preceded him in death; five sisters and five brothers. He was also preceded in death by: his Mom; his Dad; one son, Michael; one grandson, Dayton; and one granddaughter, Brooklyn.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Lea Herrod of the home; seven daughters and two selected daughters, Vera (Walter) O'Neal of West Valley, Utah, Caroline Carter and Charlotte (Marcus) Potter both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stella Amy and Denise Robinson both of Houston, Texas, Jessica (Vincent) Hendricks and Chayda Hammond both of Dallas, Texas, Regina Specht of Newton, Kansas, and Jessica Alberty of Idabel, Oklahoma; four sons, Kelvin Barry Herrod of Rialto, California, Sheldon Herrod of Idabel, Oklahoma, Clarence E. Herrod and Kenneth (Cheryl) Herrod both of Newton, Kansas; one sister Patricia Roberts of CA: two brothers A. C. Herrod, and Charles Ervin Herrod of CA; sister-in-law's Darnell Dixon of Idabel, OK., Sarah Burkins of Dallas, TX and Pearlene Beckom of Arizona; a very special cousin, Ms. Levada (Green) Lindsey of Meridian, Oklahoma; thirty-seven grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are set for 1 pm Friday November 28 at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor A. W. Gulley officiating.
Interment will follow at Beaver Dam Cemetery DeKalb, Texas
