Christopher Michael 'Joe' Lewis 46, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away on December 31st, 2022, in Oklahoma City, OK. Christopher was born February 15th, 1976, to Jequetta Lewis & Lester 'Shake' Harris in Idabel, OK.
Christopher was a 1995 graduate of Idabel High School. In high school, he was a member of the Warrior Pride Marching Band. He could play all the percussion instruments, but his main instrument was the Bass Drum. Also, while in high school he received his food service certification from Kiamichi Area Vo-Tech.
Christopher loved food and loved to cook. His passion for cooking led him to attend Platt College in Oklahoma City, OK where he received his Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. After receiving his degree, he earned the title Chef Chris. He was head chef for a period at Pampa Country Club in Pampa, TX. He also was a chef at Chesapeake Energy Arena as well as various other restaurants and venues. Later, he obtained his CDL and was a long-haul truck driver for a period. Chris really enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, playing dominoes, whipping his relatives in UNO, and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a people person who never met a stranger and whenever you saw him, he always had a smile on his face.
Chris battled Sickle Cell Anemia his entire life but despite his illness he never let it slow him down. He worked from the age of 16 until recently when his health further declined.
Chris leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Jequetta Cook (Johnie), his children Crystal Lewis of Oklahoma City, OK, Ashley Walker of Texarkana TX, Lacurtis Hearn of Tulsa, OK, Aaliyah Steffee and son-in-law Ryan Steffee of Dalzell, SC, Dayquan 'Lil Chris' Brown of Oklahoma City, OK, Jordan Davis of Bentonville, AR, Jaylenn Lewis of Oklahoma City, OK and Amyracle Grass of Idabel, OK. His siblings Darreyll Lewis and sister-in-law Nita Moss of Oklahoma City, OK, Patricia Lewis, Katina Lewis, Akilah Lewis and brother-in-law Dewayne Noah, Jamil Lewis all of Idabel, OK, Teresa Baker and brother-in-law Howard Baker Midwest City, OK, Salethia Harris Wichita, KS, Teresa Noble of Slaton, TX, Lashunda Boyd of Shreveport, LA and Ronnie Leifert of Wilmington, DE. Six grandchildren and a host of relatives & friends
Chris's Funeral service is set for 2:00 Saturday, January 7 th , 2023, at the Bypass Church of Christ in Idabel with Rev. Jimmy William officiating.
A visitation is set Friday, January 6 th , 2023, from 6-8 at the Funeral Home.
