Charley Odell Shoals was born June 21, 1955 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Luther Lee Shoals, Sr. and the late Lois (Scott), Shoals. He was the seventh of eight children. He departed this life Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Shoals, two brothers, Billy Ray Shoals, Billy Joe Shoals, and daughter, Alecia V. Shoals.
Odell, as his family lovingly called him, graduated from Gray High School in Idabel, Oklahoma in 1973. He attended East Central State University in Ada for a short time; then he attended Okmulgee Technical College in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1976 with a certification in Auto Body Mechanics. He worked for 31 years as a welder at Equipment Technology LLC (E.T.I.). He also worked three years at Macklenburg-Duncan Co. in Oklahoma City. For the last two years he worked for Mercy Care Task LLC.
Odell loved interacting with people. He often said that his work with Mercy Care Task LLC was so rewarding, because he had the opportunity to help and talk with patients as he transported them to their various appointments. He loved playing dominoes, singing, dancing, and making people laugh.
In 1980, Odell was united in Holy Matrimony to Franchetti Harding, and to this union four children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Luther L. Shoals Sr.; four children, Frandelind Traylor (Michael), Charley Odell Shoals Jr., Edreon Shoals, and Ella D. Shoals; 10 grandchildren, Dacember, Jasmine, La'Laira, Miracle, Tierney, Amari, Lorielle, Jaden, Marilind, and Charley Odell Shoals III; four sisters, Donna F. Givens, Gwendolyn G. Mainor (Clarence), Delois Holloman (Victor), Linda R. Shoals; three brothers, Lonnell Shoals, Larry Shoals (Lucy), and Luther Shoals Jr.; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service is set for 10 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Idabel with Rev. Curtis Baker, officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
