Charles Ray Austin Sr., aged 75, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Bessie Lee Cole and Willie Austin; his brother, Ricky Logan; and his beloved grandparents, Hattie and Walter Young, who lovingly raised him from an early age. Charles was a proud graduate of Haworth High School. A man of faith, he professed his belief in Jesus Christ and lived his life with humility and sincerity.
Charles began his career at the Craig Plant in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Later, he made Enid, Oklahoma his home, where he dedicated more than twenty years of service to the Enid Public Schools maintenance division. Throughout his tenure, he took great pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, teachers, and staff. His unwavering work ethic, marked by dependability and genuine care, left a lasting impact. Upon retiring in August 2023, he departed a legacy defined by reliability, dedication, and quiet excellence.
Beyond his work, Charles found joy in the outdoors and in life's simple, peaceful moments. He delighted in driving Chevy trucks, spending cherished time with family, fishing, recreational shooting, horseback riding, reading western-themed books, gardening, and listening to good music. These activities were not merely pastimes but reflections of his spirit, independence, and appreciation for the world around him. What truly distinguished Charles was his generous heart. He faced life's challenges with quiet courage, offered love without hesitation, and his steady presence and kindness left an enduring imprint on all who knew him.
Charles is lovingly remembered by his children: Catrina (Amen) Austin Kamau, Charles Ray Austin Jr., Cynthia (Michael) Harold, Carlos Austin, and Christopher Austin; his grandchildren: Zion Kamau, Jaylin King, Keylan Hare, Jordan Austin, Amari Kamau, Isabella Lanham, Markell Edwards, Aiyana Austin, Makiah Edwards, Carlos Austin Jr., Charlie Austin, and Jacob Austin; his uncle, Walter (Almeta) Austin; his sisters, Patsy (Edward) Johnson and Thelma (Terry) Williams; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Logan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will forever hold his memory dear.
Charles Ray Austin Sr. lived his life with purpose, humility, and love. His legacy endures through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his journey.
A Graveside Services is set for 2:30 pm Saturday at Antioch Cemetery, Harris, Ok.
