Bonnie Dillard

September 7, 1939 — March 1, 2023

Missionary Bonnie Mae Dillard went peacefully from sleep to glory on March 1, 2023, surrounded by love. She was born September 7, 1939, in Wewoka Seminole County, Oklahoma, to Leo and Coran Dillard.

Bonnie was raised in the Springhill Community of Idabel, Oklahoma, where she attended Slater School and later relocated to Gary, Indiana, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1957.

She was a faithful member of Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Thurman Dillard, Pastor.

Bonnie was dedicated to her family and especially to God. She was always sharing the Word of God to save souls. She served as a Missionary/Evangelist. She was a member of the famed BAC Sing­ers who toured across the Northern Midwest blessing all who heard them sing.

Bonnie was active in the Civil Rights Movement and in her community. She served as president of the Tenant Council of her high-rise building. She was an organizer for political functions and a fierce protector and provider for her family. She loved to fish and hunt and was an incredible cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo, and Coran Dillard, as well as 2 sons, Djamal C. Washington, and Richard Lee Williams: siblings, S.W. Anderson, Edward Earl Anderson, Frank Ander­son, Mary Washington, and Ray Charles Anderson.

She is survived by one brother, Rev. Melvin Anderson, Idabel, Oklahoma: one daughter, Cora, Deneace Rucker, Decatur, Illinois; one son, Leethanel Williams II, Idabel, Oklahoma; two grand­daughters, Nicolia Leneace Kelley, Chicago, Illinois and Dominique Rochell Rodgers, Fargo, North Dakota; six great-grandchildren, Mariah, Treymond, Destiny, Carlos, Charles, and Legend; dedicated niece, Faye Anderson, Idabel, Oklahoma; adopted children, Dora Scott, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Sammy and Shonda Robinson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, honorary brother and sister, Thurman and Laverne Dillard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Dillard's Funeral is set for 11 am March 14 th , 2023, at St. James CME Church with Bro Leethanel Williams Officiating.

Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5- 8 on Monday, March 13 th , 2023, at the funeral home.
