Billy R Byrd

Billy R. Byrd, a devoted family man and skilled tradesman, passed away on May 21, 2026, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Born on January 6, 1964, in Texarkana, Arkansas, Billy was the beloved son of Billie Byrd Sr. and Thelma Byrd. He was raised alongside his siblings, including Reggie Byrd, Norman Byrd, Jerry Jefferson, Mary Whitfield, as well as the late Darren and Wayne Byrd.

Billy’s educational journey included studies at Idabel High Schools followed by Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSU/IT), where he honed his skills in automotive trades—a field that became his lifelong passion and career. He worked for several years as a driver for Little Dixie and held various other roles, reflecting his versatility and strong work ethic.

Known for his outgoing personality, warm smile, and kind heart, Billy was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His passions extended beyond his career; he cherished spending quality time with his family and found great satisfaction in working in the yard and restoring cars.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Angela Byrd; his children, Billie Byrd (Florence), Keuntra Willis, Keuna Willis, and Mikeedra Lambert; his mother, Thelma Johnson; and his siblings Reggie Byrd (Latisha), Norman Byrd (Alicia), Jerry Jefferson, and Mary Whitfield (Jason). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a broad circle of friends who will remember him fondly.

A Funeral service will be held on May 30, 2026, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 33 Kulli Pool Road in Idabel, Oklahoma. The service will begin at 1:00 PM.

Interment will follow at Oak Cemetery.

Billy R. Byrd’s legacy is one of dedication—to family, community, and craft. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
