Betty Jo Hill Murphy was born March 23, 1952 in Idabel, OK to Curtis Sr. and Lee Anna Hill. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty passed peacefully at Hills Nursing Home from health battles on January 24, 2026 to her heavenly mansion.
As a youth Betty surrendered her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and followed in obedience with baptism. She attended school at BTW and was a member of the BTW Sophomore Class 67/68 New Generation.
Her marriage love story began with Jeffrey Murphy on December 1, 1969 and after 25 years renewed those vows again which had expanded to 56 years. Together they raised 3 children, Yvette, Darrell and Steve.
Betty worked early on at Tyson Foods and later as a Provider for Home Health Services. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds and working crossword puzzles. At times during the holidays, she and Jeff would take a plate of food to those in need in their community.
She was an active member of Rose Hill Baptist Church where she had served 40+ years as Church Clerk up until her failing health. She served as Vice President and Secretary of the WMU for several years, as well as, having been involved with the Southeast District (SED) Young Adults and the Convention. Betty also served as SED Deaconess President and was an active supporter of Oklahoma Baptist State Women’s Auxiliary. She was active in the Choir as well as a member of the Ushers.
Betty’s life was a testament to love, service, perseverance, and faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers, Willie C, Curtis Jr, Troy and Clay Dell as well as several In-Laws, Aunts & Uncles and Nieces and Nephews.
Betty is loved and remembered by her husband Jeffrey Murphy of the home, Sons Darrell and Steve Murphy of Dallas TX; Daughter, Yvette French of OKC, OK; Sister, Joyce (Joseph) McGlon of MWC, OK; Brother, Charles (Patricia) Hill of Idabel; Brother-In-Law, Roger Murphy of Dallas, TX; 3 Sister-In-Laws, Ruby & Sylvia Murphy of CA and Twida Mae Murphy of Dallas, TX; 10 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great, Grandchild and a host of Nieces, Nephews and relatives.
