Barney Charles Lewis

Barney C Lewis departed this life on December 11, 2020 in Denver, Colorado. He was born October 6, 1952 to Bryant and Earlee Hopkins-Lewis in Idabel, Oklahoma now deceased.

Also preceded him in death three (3) brothers, Clyde Hall, Quincy Dixon, and Albert Lewis.

He was a faithful member of Rosehill Baptist Church and was member of the Junior Choir. He attended schools Booker T. Washington and Idabel Gray High School.

He was involved in many activities and clubs such as Idabel Marching Band, played trumpet, and a member of the Society 8 Club. After graduating in 1970, he attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and pledged the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He also attended Southeastern University in Durant, Oklahoma. While at Southeastern, he was drafted into the US Army in 1972.  He was stationed in Germany where he attained the rank to SP5 (Sergeant). He was honorably discharged in 1975, and moved to Colorado Springs where he met Cheryl Tivis; they married in 1984.

To this union one son, Kevin Bryant Lewis was born. He will be remembered by his family and loved ones for his passion for the music and arts. His knowledge for musical instruments was so uncanny that he taught himself to play the piano and a host of other instruments. His intellectual ability was unmatched to where he did calculus to relax. He loved watching football, especially OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He loved playing spades and dominoes to where you would say he was a professional.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kevin Bryant Lewis of Colorado Springs, CO, 7 brothers W. Charles Lewis ( Thelma) of Las Vegas, NV, Don Lewis (Yvonne) of Midwest City, OK, Ronnie Lewis( Cheryl) of Idabel, OK, Clifton Lewis ( Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL, Travis Lewis of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin Lewis of Durant, OK, Cordell Lewis of Bethany, OK and 6 sisters Linda Bell ( Willie), Jequetta Cook( Johnnie), Evelyn Whitaker ( A.C.) all of Idabel, OK, Carla Young (L.C.) of Longview, TX, Linda Price of Tulare, CA, Erma Jean Sullivan of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins, a special childhood friend Robert Joe Walker.

A Graveside Service is set for 2 pm Monday December 21, 2020 at Williamston Cemetery.

Interment will follow.
