Arthur Stewart Jr., age 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Paris Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Arthur was born July 21, 1946, in DeRidder Louisiana to Arthur Stewart and Curlie Armstrong Stewart. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School and attended Grambling College in Louisiana. Before moving to Idabel in 1971, he was employed at Boise Paper Mill in DeRidder. Once in Oklahoma, Arthur was employed for thirty years at Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill located in Valliant, OK. While working at Weyerhaeuser, he attended Idabel's Southeastern Oklahoma State University Campus. In 2008, he graduated from Paris Jr. College with a degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Arthur owned his own business, Stewart's Residential Rentals. He provided affordable housing to Idabel residents for many decades. Arthur was a humble, hardworking man who loved to build and remodel homes. His greatest joy was providing many Idabel residents with the opportunity to become homeowners. Arthur loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. Being in the "deer woods" was one of his favorite places to be. The deer population will be increasing soon!
Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Valliant, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur, and Curlie Stewart; brother, Cecil Stewart; first wife, Norma Stewart; and daughter, Sonja, and Savanna Stewart.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Loretta of the home; daughters, Andrea Stewart, and Nadia (Marshal) Bracken of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Alaysia Bailey and Amir Winston, Idabel, OK; Siblings; brother Ed (Pearl) Stewart, DeRidder, LA; sisters, Gloria Taylor, DeRidder, LA and Dell Bailey, Hampton, VA; Aunt Eddie Bea (Calava) Ransom, DeRidder, LA; Sister-in-law Janice Stewart, Deridder, LA; brothers-in-law Ellis Ford Jr., Huntsville AL, Kenneth (Linda) Ford, Norman, OK, and James (Barbra) Jones, DeKalb TX; Sister-in-laws Teresa Crenshaw, Haworth, OK, and Edna (Charles) Adams, Oakland, CA; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nunley's Funeral Home.
Services will be held October 7, 2023, at 12:00 pm noon, at the Bypass Church of Christ, located at 120 Lincoln RD Idabel, OK 74745.
