Minister Argula Marbro Goodlow departed his earthly home and moved into his heavenly home on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Hill's Nursing Home in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was born September 24, 1938 in Harris, Oklahoma to Jimmie and Helen Goodlow.
He joined with Olive Branch Baptist Church in Idabel as a youth. He sang in the choir and worked faithfully in the church. In 1974, while residing in Los Angeles, California, he became a born-again Christian. On October 27, 1974, he was awarded a Certificate of License in the Gospel Ministry by the Everfaithful Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Later that year, he began the Cross of Christ Ministries in Los Angeles. He passed out religious tracks and worked with the homeless and under-served populations in Los Angeles, Dallas, Texarkana, Paris, and Idabel. He spent countless hours trying to tell everybody about somebody who could change anybody.
Upon relocating to Idabel in 1983, he continued to work in his ministry in Southeast Oklahoma. On February 13, 1994, he was ordained in the Gospel Ministry by Rev. Herbert E. Smith, Moderator of Ordaining Council, in Idabel. He later became a member of First Baptist Church-Westside where he continued to serve the Lord.
Minister Goodlow attended elementary, junior high, and high school at Booker T. Washington. He graduated from BTW High School in 1958. He was a popular young man who played basketball for the Wildcats. He enrolled in Langston University at Langston, Oklahoma in 1959 and attended for several years prior to joining the United States Air Force in 1963. He was stationed in Puerto Rico; where he also attended Inter-American University.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Jimmie and Helen Goodlow.
Remembering him with love are: Brother, Nathaniel Goodlow, Sr. Idabel, Oklahoma. Sister, Lou Eddie Goodlow Burris, Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Nephews, Nathaniel Goodlow, Jr. Winton Goodlow, Vincent Goodlow, Sabastian Goodlow, Adrian Goodlow, Mike (Vanessa) Burris. Niece, Nakisha. Also, a special cousin, Joy Hill of Idabel, Oklahoma. And, a host of other cousins and relatives.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, 4-6 PM at Nunley Funeral Home, Three Northwest Bois D'Arc Street in Idabel.
The service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church-Westside. Rev. A.W. Gulley will be the eulogist.
Interment will be in Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
