Alvin H. Scott, age 70 of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Paris Regional Hospital in Paris, Texas. He was born June 19, 1943 to the late Amos and Mary Scott in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Alvin attended Slater, Richland and Booker T. Washington Schools in Idabel where he earned his high school diploma. He accepted Christ at an early age. He joined the United States Army as a Medic in July of 1965 and served until August of 1968 when he reenlisted and continued to serve for four more years. He served in combat during the Vietnam War. Alvin served his country with honor and distinction and received an honorable discharge. Alvin enjoyed his life to the fullest, spending time with family and friends. Alvin always had a smile on his face.
Alvin had five sisters and six brothers that precede him in death: Thelma, Elma, Bennie, Loretta, Geneva, James Otis, Edward Lee, Ray, Luther, William, and David; and one grandson, Kamoni.
He leaves to cherish is memories: one daughter, Katina Scott and husband Edward of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Charlene Daniels and husband Marvin and Linda Wright and husband Frank, both of Idabel; two aunts, Dorothy Hill of Idabel, Betty Sue Hobbs of New Mexico, and Onie Thomas of Fresno, California; two uncles, John Smith and Howard Smith, both of Clarksville, Texas; along with his grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be help at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Westside in Idabel with Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at Williamston Cemetery in Idabel.
